About

I love movies. They help a person escape reality for just a little while. And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.

An important part of movies, for me, have always been the props. They are the tools someone uses in the movie or the devices that help them do something or solve a problem. The main item that they have sought after for years or the incredible machine that helps them save a city and the world. Props are part of the story and part of the magic of movies.

The first prop that I remember making was a lightsaber made out of a 2 AA batteries, a metal pipe, some cloth tape, a button, and a very dim LED. It wasn’t much but I figured out how to make the LED light up when I pushed the button, and I thought that was pretty cool. I was probably 9 or 10 years old and could recite large parts of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Ghostbusters by heart. I used to walk around with an old suitcase strapped to my back and a hose sticking out of the side of it pretending that I had a Proton Pack. There’s no telling how many bullwhips I tore to pieces trying to swing from a tree like Indiana Jones.

Movie props are what help make the magic of movies even more magical. They help tell the story or, sometimes, they are the story.

The word pix appeared in Variety magazine headlines in 1932, as an abbreviation for the word pictures, in reference to movies. El stands to mean “element”. Props are an element in movies that can capture someone’s imagination and never let go.

I started this business to help supply people with the means to make very specific props for some of my favorite films. I struggled to make many of my own props and realized there was a lack of places to buy supplies and exact prop parts that I needed. I’ll be adding more and more to my listings, so please check back often and maybe you’ll see something new and interesting.
